Okay, we might be hoarders.

Do you ever watch the popular television show about hoarders? Most of us shake our heads in disbelief, "How can people let it get that bad?", we wonder. The condition is considered a disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. They note approximately 2.6% of the population may have hoarder characteristics. It can be more pronounced in those over 60 or "people with other psychiatric diagnoses, especially anxiety and depression."

A long-overdue cleaning at Townsquare Media Billings.

I joke that everyone should move every five years, simply to get rid of all the stuff they don't need or use. At one point in my career, I was moving somewhat frequently, chasing better opportunities. During that time, I became very efficient at reducing clutter.

At Townsquare Media Billings, we've been in the same spot on the 23rd floor of the DoubleTree Hotel for decades. And we had STUFF. Lots and lots of stuff.

Our boss organized a staff cleanup day, and we did our best.

Two pickup loads went to the dump, two pickup loads went to a storage unit, and we still had MOUNTAINS of stuff. We barely made a dent. To be honest, we don't have the tools, skills, or manpower to move ancient heavy desks, a huge pile of broken chairs, old furniture, and stacks of random odds-n-ends to the dump or recycling center. I mean... we're media people, not movers.

Kris Hasler, Owner of Billings-based Empty it Out Junk Removal heard one of our DJs bemoaning the overwhelming amount of heavy, awkward items and junk that needed to be moved and contacted our team. We gladly said yes. "Please come help us!"

Empty it Out Junk Removal came to our rescue.

Hasler and an employee arrived on time and were completely professional. They made at least three trips to the landfill and by midafternoon they made all of our junk disappear. His company can do everything from furniture and appliance delivery and removal to eviction cleanouts, hoarding cleanouts, and yard waste removal. If you've got stuff and you want it gone, give him a shout for a quote. Thank you, Kris! Our team (and our backs) appreciate you.

Side note: We did offer the nicer filing cabinets, desks, and non-broken chairs for free (or practically free) on social media before we began hauling stuff to dump. A few individuals did come to take some items. Many of our old electronics were donated to After Rage, which in turn recycles the materials.
