5 Sure Fire Signs You Know You ARE a Billings Native
5 Things that SCREAM I grew up in Billings!
Those of us born and raised in The Magic City have made memories in many places.
That most of if not all of us consider to be staples of growing up here in B-Town.
From enjoying these places and things as a kido to revisiting the memories as adults here are a few of
the things that scream I grew up in Billings. Your roots just might be from Billings if….
1. You know you are from Billings if you know what a Flying Saucer Burger is, and have been willing
to wait out the long line in questionable traffic just to get that little hamburger pocket of
tastiness. King’s Hat is where it is at!
2. You know you are from Billings if you have ever been swimming in Lake Smellmo aka Lake Elmo. Even though it terrified you as a kid because of all the rumors of dead cows buried in the sands and piranhas unleased into the waters. None of which are true. Then again that could be a lie to the water does at times have a funky smell and color, but if you are from here it doesn’t matter. We keep on swimming in its funk year after year!
3. You know are from Billings if you have ever had a “date night” that consisted of you cruising 24, eating Softies Ice Cream, and going to the Rims to look down and our small big city lights.
4. You know you are from Billings if your end of the school year field trip was to Big Splash and or the Pictograph Caves. The caves are still as neat now as they were back then. Big Splash, we miss you and your death slide better known as The Suicide. Lots of skin was lost going down that thing at a rapid rate with nothing to hold on to. Burned a few holes in a few swimsuits over the years of blasting down that bad boy.
5. You know you are Billings if you remember when we had two malls. McDonald’s, Tilt, and of course The train in West Park Plaza. Iconic place to have your picture taken in your sweet 90’s outfit of a wind breaker, mullet and or hideously large head of over sized bangs and crimped hair. Just a bunch of kids running amok bouncing on a weird vinyl, plastic-ish, train shaped rock.
Classic.
These are just a few of the things that say yep…that one is from Billings.
