A Billings Restaurant Favorite Opening New Coffee Cafe Downtown
Exciting news this week from The Marble Table.
The Marble Table in downtown Billings quickly became one of the Magic City's most-recommended restaurants. Reservations are likely if you want to snag a table most nights. The "elegant comfort food" restaurant on historic Montana Avenue is approaching its fourth anniversary in November, and owners Jen and Jason Marble will soon have another reason to celebrate... they are opening a new coffee shop/cafe downtown.
Marble Coffee Company is slated to open soon in the DoubleTree Hotel.
Fingertips covered in paint, Jen Marble told us today that they're hoping to open between May and June, with the renovation of the former City Brew on the first floor of the DoubleTree Hotel well underway. Jen showed me around the space as we chatted about the project.
A comfortable, welcoming spot in Downtown Billings.
The decor and ambiance at Marble Coffee will essentially match the Marble Table, down to the paint colors and overall theme. Marble said they want to replicate the same type of homey-ness and welcomed feeling that guests experience at their restaurant. They envision a coffee shop where people can feel comfortable and relaxed; a place to connect.
The food should be good too.
James Beard nominated chef Jason Marble is also a talented pastry chef, so we can expect a delightful selection of treats when they open this spring. Marble Coffee will roast its signature coffee beans, thoughtfully sourced from two coffee bean suppliers, and they'll utilize the kitchen at the Montana Ave restaurant to bring a selection of pastries, lunch items, and other snacks to the coffee shop. Their hours will be from 7 AM to 4 PM (possibly later), seven days per week.
Opinion: This is great for downtown Billings.
Readers know I'm a big supporter of downtown. I love the urban feel. I love that I can walk three blocks in any direction from my place of work to fantastic local restaurants, bars, breweries, concert venues, the courthouse, one-of-a-kind shops, and so much more.
I love that I run into friends, associates, and local business owners almost every time I'm out wandering around. It's the only part of Billings that is pedestrian-friendly and when I eventually become an empty-nester, buying a loft downtown is at the top of my mind. Despite naysayers complaining about transients and the lack of parking (umm.... we have 4 public parking garages), I feel like downtown Billings is on the cusp of big things and I have no doubt that Marble Coffee is primed for success.
