People make me angry sometimes, especially when I hear about people abusing animals. I don't understand what makes someone want to hurt an innocent animal or leave them on the side of the road when they don't want them anymore instead of bringing them to a shelter. We just adopted our dog Stella a few months ago and even though she can be a handful, I could never think about leaving her on the side of the road or leaving her outside in the cold all day. It turns my stomach to think that there are people out there that have such cold hearts like this. I hate when I see stories on the news or Facebook about animals being rescued and they're malnourished or have been neglected, and I always wish that they get punished harshly for their crimes. Yesterday, a bill was passed that would make abusing an animal an actual felony.

According to Fox 5 New York, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill called the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, and will make it a lot easier to punish and prosecute people who kill animals in a terrible way. Before this bill was passed, the United States, did not have a federal animal cruelty law. The next step is for this Act  to go to the Senate and then we are on our way to protecting innocent animals from terrible people.
