Fans Agree: Two Places in Billings Have the Best Sushi
Growing up in Montana, my family was not a sushi household. "Raw fish! Gross!" is what I thought for most of my life. I was well into adulthood when someone finally convinced me to try it.

Lo and behold, I discovered that sushi is awesome.
Sure, Billings is 13 hours away from the nearest ocean, and we're not exactly a mecca for ethnic cuisine. However, we are blessed with a handful of restaurants that create some fantastic sushi.
Browsing Reddit this week, someone posted a comment that they were visiting Billings; his spouse doesn't like sushi, but her plane didn't arrive until midnight and the husband wanted to treat himself to the best sushi in Billings. Redditors were quick to provide sushi advice, and there were two clear winners.
Nara Restaurant - 3 Custer Ave
Owner and Chef Dae Shin grew up in the family-owned restaurant, washing dishes for $5 a day when he was twelve years old, according to this Yellowstone Public Radio article. In 2004, Dae's father sent him back to their birth country of Korea where he honed his craft at an exclusive sushi restaurant for three months before returning to Billings.
Nara is known for their huge portions and unique take on sushi. The restaurant has a 4.5-star rating out of 525 Google Reviews.
Fancy Sushi - 1313 Grand Ave Unit 3
Most of the Redditors mentioned Nara, but Fancy Sushi also received several nods for their freshly made, flavorful sushi. The Mid-town restaurant also has hundreds of glowing reviews on Google, earning 4.5 stars out of 669 reviews.
