Jax is Billings' featured Wet Nose Wednesday Pet this week.

Each week, we get to enjoy the experience of meeting a ready-to-adopt pet from Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. We instantly fell in love with today's dog, a big, lovable guy named Jax.

Fans of large-breed dogs will want to check out Jax at their earliest convenience. He arrived at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter a little over a week ago as a surrender. We can't imagine he'll last long.

A seven-year-old Mastiff/Great Dane mix.

While Jax loves playing with the other dogs at YVAS, he reportedly didn't get along with another dog at his former home, so his former owner(s) brought him in. Sad, right? He's a gentle giant, believed to be a Great Dane/Mastiff mix. He's quite tall; his back reaches above my knees and he'll have no problem poking his nose over a tabletop or counter without jumping up.

Derek Wulf, Humane Education Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter said Jax enjoyed riding in the car on the way to our studios, nudging him with that big head of his to roll down the windows so he could poke out the window and take in the fresh air.

If I didn't already have three dogs in my household, I would be very tempted to take this dog home. Jax is calm, and playful, knows how to sit, and likes cuddle time. He's a good-looking dog, with expressive eyes that seem to look into your soul.
