Blake Lively Open to ‘Gossip Girl’ Revival, XOXO
Attention, Upper East Siders (and beyond): Serena van der Woodsen (or, more accurately, actress Blake Lively) is pretty much on board for a Gossip Girl revival, and we're ready to party like it's 2007.
Lively, who played the CW's most iconic It Girl for six seasons between 2007 and 2012, told Variety ahed of its Power of Women event that she's certainly on board for a GG revival, but that the project's timing, script and story would have to be perfect.
Still, now that she's a mom, she clarified that her involvement would be limited at best.
"It sort of all depends. Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much," she said. "But I’ve just learned in life you never say never. I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows — if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City."
"I would only want to be in a show that I would want to watch," she added.
And on the topic of NYC, Lively said she's still appreciates that show creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage battled to shoot the show in Manhattan when it would have been easier to make episodes in Toronto. The city, she said, ultimately became the heart of the show.
"We were always in the coolest new spots," she said. "It was almost like a city guide as well as a fun show to watch. We were one of the first people to be at Sleep No More."
