Today we just wanted to share a sweet (and sour) feel-good story about the efforts of a 10-year-old girl.

AP tells us that Josie Larson of Monticello, Minnesota, set up a lemonade stand and donated profits to help pay for protective vests for her county's police dogs. When Josie found out the K-9s needed the equipment, she figured that was a great fundraiser project. So up went the lemonade stand.

Josie set a goal of $1,000. But thank goodness for high heat and even higher humidity during a Minnesota summer. Thirsty customers helped Josie shatter her goal, and on Friday, she presented the Wright County Sheriff's Department with a check for $1,500 dog-earmarked to help pay for the K-9 vests.

Josie actually raised over $1,600, but she wanted to spend some of the profits on treats and toys for the dogs. Not bad for a 10-year-old kid who says she just wanted to help keep the dogs and officers safe!
