Will Montana Families Pick Potatoes Over Eggs This Easter?
Have you heard? "Easter Potatoes" Might Actually Be a Thing This Year!
NY Times says dyeing POTATOES instead of eggs might actually be a trend for Easter this year. With egg prices sky high, will this trend actually take off this year? If you jumped on the band wagon of getting chickens, you might not have to worry about your eggs this Easter. Across the whole state of Montana families started adding chickens to their families because of the price of those little delicious eggs.
Eggs are just so darn so expensive, people are planning to dye POTATOES for Easter.
It turns out that this is not a new idea. The marketing group Potatoes USA attempted to make it a thing back in 2023 as food prices were rising. PETA also really wanted the White House Easter Egg Roll to use potatoes this last year.

There are all kinds of videos on how to dye or paint the spuds have been trending recently. So, it's becoming less of a joke idea, and more of an actual real-life strategy for saving money.
Naturally I had to google it and sure enough potato egg videos for days. HGTV even got in on the coloring of the potatoes action with a how to, and to be honest these potatoes just make me sad. They don't exactly scream Easter to me.
The Easter Bunny could also opt to hide plastic eggs full of candy.
But that cuts out the whole egg-dyeing tradition for kids. A lot of the big, organized egg hunts are using plastic ones this year. That is pretty good idea given that eggs have a shelf life and plastic one's life on forever and ever. Plus, you can reuse them next year if they survive the first hunt.
