Additional Information

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! The Family Tree Center - Billings Exchange Clubs’ Child Abuse Prevention Center and the Breakfast Exchange Club will be planting a Pinwheels for Prevention display Friday, April 7th at 7:45am in front of MetraPark Rimrock Arena. Please join The Family Tree Center and the Breakfast Exchange Club in planting pinwheels outside MetraPark Rimrock Arena. We are encouraging everyone to wear BLUE, the color signifying child abuse prevention, to the event.

The pinwheel display will remain in front of Rimrock Arena and child abuse prevention awareness signage will be in the lobby area throughout the month of April.  Blue is the signature color of Child Abuse Prevention. The Breakfast Exchange Club Servers at MetraPark will be wearing blue during all the events in April at MetraPark in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness.

The pinwheel represents, for so many people, what every child deserves—a happy, healthy childhood. Through nurturing parents, so they can do the best possible job nurturing their children, we know what we do at The Family Tree Center each day is helping to Build Stronger Families, a better community, and safer kids.

Pinwheels for Prevention is a national campaign begun by Prevent Child Abuse America and its chapters 9 years ago to raise awareness of the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect right from the start and of “stopping the hurt before it happens”. More than 4 million pinwheels have been distributed nationwide since April 2008. The pinwheels help to express that through a collective community commitment, we can ALL play a role to prevent child abuse and neglect.

The theme for Billings’ event is “Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect by Building Strong Families”. 450 blue and silver pinwheels will be planted representing the 225,024 children in our state and the hope for their healthy development. 1 pinwheel will represent 500 children
