Additional Information

Special K Ranch will host an open house on Saturday, June 10, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The event will follow a similar format as last year, which will feature live Dixieland favorites performed by the Second Avenue Stompers. Guests will enjoy a barbecue beef brisket lunch and numerous activities, including a dunk tank and a variety of outdoor games. The event will feature a plant and art sale showcasing products grown and made by the residents of the ranch. Antique cars will be on display, and the event will also highlight the vast array of Special K’s vocational programs.

Special K Ranch was founded 30 years ago to provide life-long homes for adults who have developmental disabilities. The ranch offers assistance with daily living skills, provides vocational challenge, and enhances quality of life through recreational activities. Residents live in a family atmosphere with home advisers and gain vocational and life skills by caring for the ranch. They work with livestock and grow bedding plants, tomatoes and other produce in the 60,000 square foot greenhouse facility. They also perform manufacturing and assembly work in partnership with several local businesses. For many, Special K Ranch is known to produce the best-tasting tomatoes and most beautiful plants available.

The open house is a good time to visit and tour the facilities, learn more about the program, and to mingle with the people who live and work on the ranch. The 240-acre property is located midway between Columbus and Park City on the South Frontage Road. For more information, please contact the ranch's main office at (406) 322-5520 or Steve Aadland, development director, at (406) 550-2224. Directions to the ranch are located on the website at www.specialkranch.org. Cost to attend is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages 12 and under.
