Five Halloween Costumes Billings Children Favor in 2015

Between opening its door on Aug. 30 until it closes after Halloween, Spirit Halloween in Billings expects to sell more than 3,000 costumes -- and that does not include the accessories such as blood and other gory makeup, props, accessories and decorations.

On Saturday, the store, now in its 11th year in Billings, was on pace to achieve, even exceed, that expectation as children tried their parents' patience trying on costumer after costume.  The pace was so brisk it rivaled the shopping habits of Black Friday.

"It just grows and grows and grows," said Luane Simpson,  operator of the store at 521 24th St. W. "We'll have lines at the checkout counter. It gets kind of crazy."

It is the only specialty store in Billings devoted solely to Halloween costumes and all things Halloween.

For children, the hottest costumes are expected to be Avengers, Spiderman, Superman, Power Rangers, vampires and vampiress, My Little Pony and the ever-favorite princess costumes for girls, Simpson said.

Adults are another story for another day, but expect a rush among that  group when Caitlyn Jenner costumes arrive later this month. No Donald Trump masks -- yet.
