Summertime in Billings is packed with fun events. Strawberry Festival was a (hot) success last weekend; so was Montana Brews and BBQs at MetraPark. Drag racing and dirt track racing are held every weekend north of town, and the Great American Championship Hillclimb is fast approaching.

The Downtown Billings Association is responsible for numerous fun events throughout the year, and they recently announced another fun, family-friendly event Downtown: Chalk on the Walk.

The event is designed to spread positivity & invoke creativity.

Chalk on the Walk takes place on August 2nd in Downtown Billings, in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk. Artists of all abilities are welcome to make public chalk art on 3x3 foot designated squares of sidewalk in the core of downtown from 3 pm to 8 pm.

Cups of pastel chalk can be purchased for $5 at the DBA office, or participants can use their own chalk. Children are encouraged to join in the fun, but remember that kids must be with an adult guardian at all times. The Downtown Billings Association notes,

You may also purchase your $5.00 cup of chalk pastels ahead of time on Thursday, August 1st during the DBA’s 9am to 4pm office hours. There is not a set time your masterpiece needs to be completed by so enjoy your time downtown or come back and work on your square on Saturday, August 3rd, if that suits your schedule better.

"There's nothing to do in Billings." Not true.

The Big Sky State games come to town July 19 - 21. Next weekend Billings hosts the Big Sky Hot Air Balloon Rally, and MontanaFair is right around the corner.

From Alive After Five to Billings Bike Nights, there is something for everyone throughout the summer in the Magic City.
