Outside Montana's larger cities, it's all about our local volunteer fire departments. These groups of men and women are vital to the safety of hundreds of smaller towns in the Treasure State.

KTVH reported in 2021 that Montana has around 8,000 volunteer firemen and women, spread across "199 rural fire districts, 35 volunteer companies, and 94 volunteer departments" who act as first responders. Many of these communities lack emergency rooms or 24-hour doctors, making these volunteers even more important when life-saving response is necessary.

Here's how you could win a truck.

Funding is typically an issue with many of Montana's rural volunteer fire departments. Despite limited state and federal funds and grants, most of these volunteers are tasked with spending out-of-pocket funds on protective gear and other necessities.

Businessman Matt Schlueter, owner of Ballentine-based Hook'd On U Towing, decided to help out several "east of Billings" volunteer fire departments by raffling off a pre-owned pickup truck.

Now through December 31, you've got a chance to win a 2004 Ford F-150. Clean title, "mileage unknown", a $5,000 value. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the following locations:

Schlueter is splitting proceeds from the pickup raffle to the Worden Volunteer Fire Department, Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department, Custer Volunteer Fire Department, plus the Huntley and Shepherd school lunch programs. Tickets are $50 each and only 200 tickets will be sold.
Fine print: Must be a Montana resident. The winner will be announced on 12/31/24. The vehicle is awarded "as is" with no guarantee or warranties, and the winner of the vehicle is responsible for any taxes, registration, etc. Townsquare Media is not affiliated with this raffle.
