Apparently, Illinois has a bit of a rat problem.

Two of America's rattiest cities are in the Land of Lincoln and another two aren't far away either, nestled in Wisconsin. Strictly speaking if rats actually "nestled."

To me, rats are some of the grossest and nastiest vermin on Earth, and of course, there are a ton by where we all live in the Rockford area.

Chicago "won" the award for the 6th consecutive year for most rats. Champaign also made the list, albeit down 3 slots from 2019.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin was on the list in 2019 as well, pops up again in 2020 down 4 spots but making up for it in another city and new to the list of rattiest cities in America, Green Bay.

Green Bay, the home of the Packers, Aaron Rodgers, and apparently, plenty of rats.

Kind of a shocker considering Green Bay wasn't on the list in 2019, but now at 40th from 58th most ratty in America. The 18 city jump is the second largest to only Albuquerque who launched up 19 spots.

Orkin, who conducted the study says rat visibility has increased in 2020. I'll give you a million guesses why, but you'll only need one, the pandemic.

Orkin:

The pandemic-driven closure of restaurants forced rodents to find new food sources. Without food waste to consume, these pests were seen scavenging new areas and exhibiting unusual or aggressive behavior.

Well, that right there is the just the cherry on top of a rat-infested sundae we've all had the displeasure of eating in 2020. Fingers crossed things will be different in 2021.
