It’s Championship Weekend for Montana High School Football
It’s Championship weekend, and eight teams across the Treasure State are looking to avoid heartbreak. Four will head home with new trophies for the case.
Class AA
The West reigns supreme in AA as #1 Helena Capital will welcome in #2 Glacier for the championship game on Friday. Glacier returns to the title match for the second year in a row, hoping to make some changes from last year’s script. Glacier faced off against Bozeman last year where they fell 27-35 to the Hawks.
After beating Butte and getting through Gallatin in the semifinals, the Wolfpack will be hoping to bring the title home against Helena Capital. Capital came away with the win the last time these two teams met earlier this season, the Bruins coming away with the 35-14 win in Kalispell. The Wolfpack will be heading to Montana’s capital to take on the Bruins for the championship.
Class A
Round 2 of the Central-Laurel rivalry will occur on Saturday as the two teams will be meeting up to contest for the Championship. Both the Rams and the Locomotives received first-round byes for their regular season performances, and after beating their eastern foes will be meeting once again on Herb Klindt field.
In their first matchup of the season the Rams put on a dominant display, beating Laurel 31-7 and holding them to under 200 yards on the game. The Locomotives will look to stun the Rams in search of their 4th football state championship, the first since 2020.
Class B
North and South lead class B as the two Ms meet up for a title matchup. Manhattan comes off of a 34-7 win against the Rams, a snow-covered affair at the base of the mountains. With a 40% chance of snow, the Tigers could be seeing the white yet again in Malta on Saturday.
Malta moved on past Florence, holding them scoreless as the Mustangs kept their perfect year alive. Malta will be hosting Manhattan, and one of the teams will come away with their first mark in the loss column of the year.
8-Man
Underdogs couldn’t prevail in the 8-Man bracket, as #1 Fairview and #1 Belt move on to the chipper. Belt cleared Drummond with ease, holding the Titans scoreless and keeping their lossless season alive. They’ll be traveling into Fairview to take on the Warriors who had a close one against Scobey, squeaking out the 18-6 win.
Another team with a perfect record, the Warriors will have a dogfight on their hands as the Huskies will look to win on the road.
