Watch Aerial Footage of Dramatic Rescue of Lost Hiker in Montana

You have probably heard about the rescue of missing hiker, Matthew Read. Matthew recently went missing after he embarked on a hike in Glacier National Park. The Michigan man was on a casual hike around the Huckleberry Lookout Trail near Apgar. When he didn't report to his family that he safely returned, a search and rescue team was dispatched to find him.

According to reports, Read was navigating a snow field when he dropped down into a large drainage. He found himself up to his chest in the snow and managed to lose his water, shoes, and phone. Making it nearly impossible to get out without help from search and rescue teams.

Two Bear Air assisted in the rescue, by using a thermal camera mounted to one of their helicopters. The thermal camera could pick up Read's body heat through the thick cover. Allowing the pilot to locate the stranded hiker.

Two Bear Air released footage of the dramatic rescue on Facebook. Showing the brave search and rescue team saving Read from a potentially fatal situation.

The first video shows the rescue team locating Read's heat signature in the dense tree cover.

The next video shows one of the search and rescue members making contact with Read and fitting him with a harness to raise him nearly 200 feet into the air.
