How Long Is The Extreme Heat Persist In Montana?

Needless to say, Montanans are no strangers to extreme weather.

From frigid cold to extreme heat and everything in between, we have it all, and sometimes all in one day.

I think it's also safe to say that most Montanans prefer slightly cooler temperatures over extreme heat.

After all, over half the year is on the chili side here in Montana, so if extreme heat is more your thing, you're probably living in the wrong state.

How Hot Is Montana?

Don't get me wrong, It's definitely been hot here in Montana, but that's to be expected in late July and early August.

Although it has been sweltering, it is by no means the hottest temperature we've experienced over the summer months.

Take a look at how conditions have so far this year. 👇

Montana Weather Summer Weather Forecast

All right, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no end in sight when it comes to toasty temperatures this summer.

A strong high-pressure ridge has set up shop over the Pacific Northwest.

This is to be expected given the transition from El Niño to La Niña conditions this summer.

This high-pressure ridge is leading to clear skies in above-average temperatures.

And think of this high-pressure ridge as a bit of a block regarding precipitation.

Any weather systems that spin up in the North Pacific have difficulty battling the high pressure, so they generally won't make their way across the state.

In other words, until this high-pressure ridge breaks down, conditions will stay hot and dry here in Montana.
