Should Debates Be Mandatory In The Montana Governor’s Race?
I know the last thing you want to see on your social media account right now, or any website for that matter, is more political talk.
But I couldn't just let this topic go unnoticed or not at least start a discussion around the issue.
My question is, should gubernatorial candidates here in Montana be mandated to have at least one debate?
We all know that the political commercials are far from factual and tend to be more of a smear campaign, so why not allow Montana to hear from the candidates directly?
Governor Greg Gianforte Refuses To Debate
It's been well publicized that Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has refused to debate Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ryan Busse.
Governor Gianforte has claimed that this is because he does not see Ryan Busse as a credible candidate because Busse has not released his tax returns.
In response to this statement, Busse recently released his tax returns, and supposedly, a debate between Montana's current governor and the gubernatorial candidate will happen.
Montana Govoner Debate
As of the time of this article, a date and time for a debate has not been set.
But the question remains: Should a debate be mandatory if there is more than one candidate for Montana's governor's race?
I'm not one to support or push more laws or regulations, but I feel that a mandatory debate, especially for Montana's governor race, would not be a bad idea.
As I mentioned above, this would allow folks to hear from the candidates on an open and even playing field.
As always, I'd love to know your thoughts!
