8 Popular Movies You May Have Forgotten Were Shot In Montana

When it comes to the best movie filmed in Montana I don't think there's much debate. According to most people it's probably the popular "A River Runs Through It". Hard to believe that the movie came out in 1992,, over thirty years ago. While many movies have been shot in Montana, the story isn't always about Montana.

According to the Montana Film Office, all of the following movies had scenes filmed somewhere in Montana.

Forrest Gump 1994- I always forget that some of this movie had scenes filmed in Montana. Scenes were filmed on the Blackfeet Reservation and in Glacier National Park.

Hidalgo 2004- One of my favorite Viggo Mortensen movies of all time had some of it filmed in Montana. Scenes were filmed on the Blackfeet Reservation, in Glacier National Park and, Kalispell, Montana.

The Untouchables 1987- Before Kevin Costner filmed Yellowstone in Montana, he led this film with scenes shot in Cascade and Hardin, Montana.

Beethoven's 2nd 1993- Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt star in this comedy about a big dog. Part of it was filmed in Glacier National Park and West Glacier.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 2005- This movie was a surprise to me. I had no idea part of it was filmed in Montana. Like a lot of the other movies, some scenes were filmed in Glacier National Park.

Montana was the location for not one, but two Steven Segal movies.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory- 1995- This is a movie that I have forgotten about over the years, even though part of the movie was filmed in Missoula.

The Patriot 1998- A few years later Steven Segal was back in Montana to film The Patriot. Part of The Patriot was filmed in Ennis, Montana.
