What Is The Commuter Challenge?

The Billings Commuter Challenge is a free and friendly competition to promote active transportation and healthy, sustainable lifestyles.

Participants can run, walk, roll, bike, or ride the city bus to their destinations for work, school, fun, or daily errands.

The goal is to replace a car trip with an alternate form of transportation.

Those who register for the Commuter Challenge log their trips online throughout the month of June to compete for a variety of great prizes.

Plus, everyone who joins the Commuter Challenge receives discounts and freebies around Billings! Participating local businesses are offering deals to all Commuter Challenge participants who arrive at the business by walking, biking, rolling, or taking MET Transit.

Kickoff Party & Slow Walk/Roll

Tomorrow, June 1st at Rose Park, the 2023 Commuter Challenge officially starts! The slow walk/roll is designed to be a fun walk and bike ride with family, friends, and neighbors.

Each group will be accompanied by music to provide a "party atmosphere" and participants are encouraged to decorate themselves, or their bikes, before the event.

If you are participating in the bike ride, you'll start on the East side of Rose Park. For walkers, you'll start at Evergreen Park at 15th & Avenue D.

Both groups will leave their parks at 5:30 PM and travel to Rose Park via Billings' first neighborhood bikeway.

Around 6 PM, walkers and riders will converge at Rose Park for the kickoff party, where they will enjoy free ice cream, and have the option of multiple activities:

• Cornhole
• Slow Bike Races
• Face Painting
• A Photo Booth
• Easy Registration for the Commuter Challenge
• Great Eats from the Let's Get Fresh Food Truck
