As a born and raised 90s kid, I can say one thing for certain... today is nothing like life used to be. Even taking the basics of what we have now, compared to 30 years ago, is a wild thought to have.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Think about phones. 30 years ago, cell phones (for those who had them) were little bricks in your pocket, that you could use as a self-defense object. Now? Our phones, which once were for CALLING... rarely make phone calls. Instead, we use them for social media... news... weather... sports... tv... movies... music... and so much more.

And, the best part about it as a Montanan... back in the 90s as a kid... if I WANTED to be found, I was. Otherwise, there wasn't any getting ahold of me on the 4-wheeler offroading in the summer. Just had to come... find me.

Let's Take A "Photo" Together!

Yes, my dear Zoomers out there reading this. They were not called "selfies" until the 90's thanks to Japan. Instead, we called them "photos". Oh, and the best part about our photos? When we took them, on a disposable camera (always a Kodak if you ask my Grandparents)... and you had NO CLUE if they were good or not until you developed them... unless you did it yourself!

Do You Know Aunt Betty's Number?

Before having all your numbers in your phone, we used a sticky fridge number keeper... or, if you were my father (and many boomers), you used the legendary... Rolodex (Roll-AH-Dex if you ask my family).

Little cards on a rotating center point, showing you what business cards and contact info you have... something special about rotating that wheel, finding the card of someone you want to give a good talking to... and then you pick up your phone.

4... TICK TICK TICK TICK. 0... TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK. 6... TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK.

I DON'T miss this device. The Rotary Dial phone. What a great piece of tech, moving us toward the future we have today. But that SOUND... I hated it as a kid, and even more so as an adult.

If you have a rotary dial that somehow still works... I'm impressed. Disappointed, but impressed.

Knock Knock Knock

Remember just... going over somewhere in the 90s? No call, text, message, snap... just showing up at someone's house, because you were around, and wanted to say hi? Oh yeah, that is a BIG difference these days.

Now, if someone shows up at my house without a call or text... they know they are in for an attitude. Why? I hate surprises. Always have since I was a kid, and 99% of the time the surprise isn't so... grand... either.

"Oh, hey Jake! Haven't seen you in over a year. Haven't replied to my texts, or called me... but I'm just SO glad you have knocked on my door randomly."

Yeah, hard pass for me. Just text me first.

If Montana cities were movies from the 90's what would they be?

If you love movies, the 90's and Montana this is the list for you.
