Today, Jaci & I decided to venture over to the MontanaFair at Noon, taking advantage of our oh-so-cool Media Badge, to grab some grub and ride some rides! However, we changed plans just a bit.

It Was HOT

At 12 noon today, the temp at MontanaFair was a nice 90 degrees as we set out from my car to the fairgrounds. Once we made it past the tight security at the gate, off we went... straight for the food.

Ok, maybe that was MY plan... and Jaci was forced to tag along. Yes, I have been absolutely CRAVING fair food for the last year. And having not ate since last night, in preparation for this very moment... I was going to get my fair food. And I wanted it now.

Since working at KGHL here in town a few years ago, and getting the chance to meet the owner of Cowboys in Huntley, I've been a faithful lover of that BBQ Parfait. Both Jaci and I got the Brisket Parfait... and it was fantastic. My only small complaint was the size of it.

$15 for a standard plastic cup (not Red Solo Cup size). But, I know, it's FAIR pricing. Either way, you gotta try it sometime.

Sure, we could have gotten the cheapest bottle of water ($1 at Cowboys, by the way) but we wanted something else. It's the fair, after all! So, we stopped over to Honeybee Lemonade. $20 later, we both had a 24oz Strawberry Lemonade.

Honestly, I didn't like it. Not because it's bad... I just LOVE sweet lemonade, and this is not sweet lemonade. Jaci thinks I am crazy, as she loved it... but she isn't a sugar addict like me. So, give them a try, and let us know what you think.

Break Time

Parfait & Lemonade in hand, we took a load off at the "Montana Lottery Winners Club" (pop-up tent) just on the south side of the midway. Man, it was hot. 93 or so by this time, and in the short time we had been walking around, we were COOKING.

We got up, and headed into the Montana Pavilion to see what the vendors were showing off. I was surprised to find some empty spaces, and a lot of "better home" style vendors. I know I'm not shopping for a new bed at the fair... or pots and pans... and no, I don't want a free copy of the new testament.

What happened to the vendors from years ago? Food, handmade goods and more? I guess that has been lost over the years. I know I'll be asking Jamie later in the week about this...

Oh, and Montana State University Extension... what the heck is with the undies exhibit? I get it, "Soil Your Undies" is funny, to bring attention to the Soil Health Workshop... but this was just weird. For sure missed the mark. (No pun intended)

By the way, I stopped by to see Brockels Chocolates as usual. Had to say hi to the sweetest lady around, Jaci. And, I didn't forget... I will be back for some sweets before the end of the fair!

Back Into The Oven

Once again in the heat, we came across some new additions to the fair this year.

Like this, Wild Rose Family Entertainment Center. This massive blow-up bounce-around thing. Pretty cool for the kids... though I would 100% want to jump around in it, even at 31.

The "Speed" ride is back again this year, to bring fear to all that ride it.

At this point, Jaci and I started circling around so she could grab all the high-quality photos of food options at the fair. That gallery is farther down, by the way.

We stopped at Dippin' Dots for a cool snack, too! The Rainbow Ice is the best flavor. Don't argue with us.

How Did I Not Know This?!

Did you know the pond in the middle of the fairgrounds has fish in it? I had no idea. I know... I can be oblivious at times.

Before We Left...

Since we were starting to feel bad from the heat (old people these days...), we decided to play a few carnival games before going. Check it out on the video below of Jaci absolutely exploding one of 4 bottles. I played... Pop The Balloon with a Bean Bag? Never have seen that... as I thought it was a darts game... but I, too, won a prize.

That's a Wrap!

Prizes in hand (I didn't pick the pink pig... the carny didn't let me pick, like the other *MUCH NICER* guy let Jaci pick...), we set off back to the Townsquare Tower to wrap up the day.
