MetraPark Under New Management In Billings After Lengthy Search

Today, the Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners has agreed to terms with the newly selected General Manager of Metra Park, Stoney Field!

Mr. Field is coming to Billings from Montrose, Colorado, after having served as the Fairgrounds and Events Center Director for the last 6 years.

The Board unanimously selected Mr. Field from a group of 37 applications for the position. Mr. Field has an extensive background in rodeo, livestock, and ag-related events, and programs, along with community-focused shows and productions.

According to the release from the Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners:

Under his leadership, the Montrose County Fair and the recently completed event center has witnessed continued growth in event sponsorships, attendance and overall revenue growth. He has demonstrated a commitment to success throughout his career, garnering various awards and recognition for his efforts and that of his teams, and has published broadly in various publications and periodicals.

YCC Chairman John Ostlund shared his thoughts on this changeover:

We had a number of well qualified candidates for this important opening. It speaks well to the reputation earned by Metra and its staff over the years as a premier venue in our region. We sought creative leadership, the ability to build and manage successful teams, a track record that demonstrates to us that the general manager selected has the ability to involve our entire region in the mission of MetraPark, while keeping an eye on increasing revenues and keeping expenses in line in order that we give our taxpayers the best bang for their buck. Stoney has built strong ties with promoters, vendors, volunteer groups and especially his customers. We are confident that Stoney will help us grow in ag events, along with fair profitability, concerts, sporting events and family friendly events equally, giving our region a wide range of opportunities to spend their entertainment dollars with us.

Stoney Field takes the reins of Metra Park on August 7th.
