With the New Year approaching fast on this week of laziness, I couldn't help but think about all the silly and broken resolutions people make every year. As your friend, I want to let you know, that I am tired of seeing you break your resolutions within a week of the New Year.

Waste Of Time

I realized years ago it was 100% a waste of time for me to make a New Year's Resolution... as I usually forgot what I made. Now, that might have been due to external factors (IE: Tequila on NYE), but I just realized it is best to be YOU, and better yourself slowly.

Now... enough of that. Here's my Top 10 New Year's Resolutions Montanans Shouldn't Make!

#10 Hitting The Gym / Weight Loss / Dieting

Sure, you can go buy that expensive (and difficult to cancel) gym membership! I look forward to seeing your selfies for the first few weeks, claiming you have lost so much weight... and your photos of you eating a roll of cookie dough a week later while on jazz lettuce.

#9 Using Social Media LESS

As someone who spends his entire day on Social Media nearly, researching content for on-air, and articles... yeah, right. I see you, Jon, sharing memes on Facebook all day while you are "working on using your phone less".

#8 Organizing Your Messy House

Why bother? It's going to become a mess again in a month when you need that ONE THING, and you SWEAR you put it in this new spot... and it isn't there.

#7 Quitting Smoking / Drinking

I'm all for bettering your health... but can you take a week or two off work when you do this? We really don't need your bad vibes bringing down the office because you can't take your hourly 15-minute smoke break.

#6 Traveling More

My father was guilty of this one every year. Oh yeah, sure, Dad. We'll take a road trip this year. (Maybe if he wasn't more focused on gambling)

#5 Volunteering... At All

As someone who DOES volunteer... this one irks me. Don't claim to doing this, without showing a little proof. We've never seen you help anyone... and we're not asking for a storytime on Snapchat.

#4 Spending Less Money On Junk

Just because you HAVE free space in the garage, doesn't mean you need to buy everything from the yard sales on Sunday. Remember this... for when someone ELSE has to clean out your life when you are gone.

#3 Finding A Job You LOVE

Better chance of pigs flying. But hey, if you find a job you can tolerate without issue, that is pretty close.

#2 Throwing Out Stuff You Don't Need

Shoes. Holey shirts. Ripped pants. Just because you THINK you will get them fixed, the 8 years in the closet says something else.

#1 Being A "Better" You

Just claiming to "be better in 2024" isn't great. You can "be better" by simply opening a door one time for someone. If you are going to make a resolution... make it a good one.
