Elon Musk has spoken. This, after a United States Senator from Montana was suspended on Twitter after sharing a hunting photo as his profile picture on the social media platform now owned by Tesla and SpaceX founder Musk.

My friend Matt Mackowiak, who used to work in Montana politics several years ago, got a response from Elon Musk himself via Twitter.

Matt shared a story showing how Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) was suspended on Twitter for a photo showing him, his wife, and the antelope that she shot while hunting here in Montana. Matt described the suspension as "insane" and tagged Elon Musk in the story, which prompted this response from Musk himself.

Elon Musk: This is being fixed. Policy against showing blood in profile pic is being amended to “clearly showing blood without clicking on the profile pic”. The intent is to avoid people being forced to see gruesome profile pics.

Here's the back and forth on Twitter:

The suspension has now lead to the "FreeSteveDaines hashtag, and some pretty funny memes- like this one from Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX):

When we mentioned this story on the radio earlier Tuesday morning, it prompted a funny response from one of our listeners in Kalispell who pointed out the fact that the Senator's wife- Cindy Daines- was actually the one who landed the shot on the antelope in Montana.

On a serious note, I've already heard of Montanans who are also now getting suspended after changing their profile photos to a hunting photo. Check out what happened to Frontier Institute President and CEO Kendall Cotton:

Influential outdoor writer and podcaster Gabriella Hoffman also made a very good point regarding hunting and fishing and censorship.
