Mediation for Yellowstone County Employees Come to an Agreement
Yellowstone County Employees Union have come to an agreement during their mediation with county commissioners.
They met with county commissioners on January 18th, 2023 to discuss the options about higher pay. This is all in the wake of Yellowstone County offering higher pay to new employees.
The employees that have worked for Yellowstone County are demanding the same pay as new hires, and claims new hires are getting paid more money than the employees who've been working there for year, and even decades.
A direct quote from Yellowstone County Employees Union President Katie Cosby,
"We met today with the intention of coming to an agreement to avoid any disruption in service to the citizens of Yellowstone County. Our agreement includes needed raises and better benefits. I’m proud of our members for securing these wins and for their faith in their bargaining team. We are grateful for the support given to us by the community and our members.”
MFPE President Amanda Curtis said,
“MFPE members across Montana are proud of our fellow members, the Yellowstone County Courthouse bargaining unit has shown their strength and power by bargaining to a fair agreement no matter how difficult or long the process.”
A contract ratification vote will be held next week.
