My Cat Puts Food in His Water

Every time I give my cat fresh water, a few hours later I see food in it. Most of the time it's only two pieces. Does my cat know the formula he likes when it comes to his water? Did he figure out two pieces of food make it taste just right?

I'm not sure if he is flavoring his water or if he just thinks it's fun to put food in his there. It makes me wonder though, does he get upset every time I dump the water with food in it and give him fresh water? Or, is this part of his plan to have me give him fresh water? Hmmm, I wish my cat could talk so I could know what he is thinking about this whole water thing.
