Popular Detroit-Style Pizza Chain is Coming to Montana

Jet's Pizza announced its first Montana location.

My pizza preference is usually thin crust, but maybe that's because I haven't had a great thick crust experience. Perhaps my opinion will change when I get a chance to check out a new pizza shop in Billings, MT this week called Jet's Pizza.

Jet's Pizza has over 420 locations in 23 states.

According to a 6/24 press release, the Detroit-style pizzeria was founded in 1978 in Sterling Heights, Michigan by brothers John and Eugene Jetts. They have a whopping 166 locations in Michigan alone, so it must be pretty decent pizza.

Originally named Jetts Party Shoppe and Pizzeria, their signature pizza is a square, thick-crust pie. Touting their special pizza steel, fresh ingredients, and signature dough, they promise a crust that is light and crisp throughout, not just on the edges.

What is "Detroit-style" pizza?

I've been nerding out about how to make pizzas at home lately, and the various styles can be overwhelming. Neopolitan, tavern, thin crust, sourdough, New York style, deep dish... there are so many options, all with devout fans.

Jet's says their Detroit-style pizza has a "light airy center, loaded with your favorite toppings, surrounded by caramelized cheese and a crispy, square, golden crust that is baked to perfection."

My kid's birthday is the same day as Jet's grand opening on June 27. Maybe I'll convince them we should go out for pizza. Not that it'll take much convincing. Everybody loves pizza. I could eat good pizza 3 - 4 times a week and probably never get tired of the cheesy, saucy, crusty combo of a great 'za.

Jet's Pizza is located at 1678 Shiloh Rd, Suite 2 (behind Topz off Shiloh and Grand). The Billings shop is locally owned by Gary Mermel, who said,
