New Ownership and Changes Underway at Popular Red Lodge Resort
Changes are underway at Rock Creek Resort in Red Lodge.
Browsing one of the Red Lodge community Facebook pages this week, I came across some interesting news about Rock Creek Resort. Someone in the Billings area wanted to know if the property was open, as they had difficulty reaching anyone at the popular resort/hotel.
It was for sale.
Rock Creek Resort was recently on the market, according to a "sold" real estate listing we found online. The 38-acre property sits in one of the most beautiful areas in south-central Montana, just south of Red Lodge. Rock Creek runs directly through the middle of Rock Creek Resorts footprint and the getaway is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest nearby. It was listed for $9,350,000.
We reached out to Rock Creek Resort.
The employee we spoke with confirmed Rock Creek Resort is open and is under new ownership (apparently the transaction became official late last week). The Old Piney Dell restaurant is not currently open. The hotel is booking rooms, with July 2024 dates rapidly filling.
A well-loved getaway for Billings fans.
Almost everyone in Billings has been to at least one or two weddings at Rock Creek Resort, perhaps with an overnight stay in one of the rooms. On one of our visits, we stayed in the condo portion of the resort, in a 3rd-floor room with a patio overlooking Rock Creek just 20 feet away. The resort complex offers a stunning, photo-friendly backdrop for Montana couples celebrating their special day.
The employee we spoke with couldn't provide many concrete details on what's in store for the resort but did hint at potential renovations property-wide and perhaps improvements to make the resort more "family friendly."
