Montana Target Stores Implement a New Checkout Policy
I don't shop at Target that often, but when I do, it's always an enjoyable experience. The retail giant feels a little more upscale than the other big-box discount stores, and it's usually less crowded and cleaner than Walmart.
Plus, it's fun finding the end-cap discount sections in the various departments, with clearance pricing on everything from home goods and clothing to games and necessities.
There are seven Target stores in Montana.
You'll find the beloved retailer in all of the biggest cities in Montana, including Bozeman, Helena, Great Falls, Kalispell, Missoula, and two in Billings. Earlier this spring, the company announced a policy change at its self-checkout aisles.
Ten items or less at Target self-checkout.
In a statement sent to the Today Show, Target said, "We’re making updates chainwide to make our checkout experience even more enjoyable." The check-out experience can make or break the shopping experience for many customers and the company began testing the "ten items or less" policy at self-checkout kiosks last year.

Unsurprisingly, the company found that self-checkout lines move faster when customers scan ten items or less, instead of a cartload of merchandise. Shocking, right?
How do you feel about self-checkout?
I seem to split my time between self-checkout and regular checkout, usually depending on how much stuff I'm buying. For a huge cart full of groceries, bottled water, dog food, and laundry soap, I head to a checker. If it's a basket full of stuff, I usually choose self-checkout.
