Uber Eats has found a way to make supporting black-owned businesses a little bit easier. The company announced on their Twitter that all across the US and Canada, you will not be charged a delivery fee when ordering from a black-owned business.

CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, said in a statement posted on Uber’s Twitter: “We are committed to supporting the Black Community. As a starting point, we will use Uber Eats to promote Black-owned restaurants while making it easier for you to support them, with no delivery fees for the remainder of the year.”

The statement continued by saying that Uber will “offer discounted rides to Black-owned businesses who have been hit hard by COVID-19.”

When opening the app, there is a banner that indicates the promotion. Once you select it, a list of restaurants to choose from will be available. A statement was put out on Twitter in the days following George Floyd’s death: "Uber stands in solidarity with the Black community and with peaceful protests against the injustice and racism that have plagued our nation for too long."

According to ABC News, Khosrowshahi also donated a million dollars to Equal Justice Initiative and Policing Equity.
