Billings, Have You Seen This New Holiday Soda? It’s SUPER WEIRD
Normally, there are tons of different styles of food and drink that get released around the holidays that are basically experiments. One of the weirdest ones I remember was the White Chocolate Peppermint flavored Pringles. It was absolutely disgusting. This year is no different, and I got to try one of the weirdest creations I've ever seen. I have some things I wanted to say about this super weird soda.
Fruit Cake Flavored Mountain Dew? Yes.
This is the "Fruit Quake" flavor of Mountain Dew; the bottle describes the soda as having a "...blast of artificial fruitcake flavor." Well, obviously it's artificial flavor, I wouldn't expect PepsiCo to put actual flavors in really anything they make. When I first saw it, the first thing that threw me off was the reddish-brown color.
Michael and Nikki tried it on The Morning Mix (which you should definitely check out, by the way) and after they did, I got to try it as well on their show. And, to my surprise it was actually weirdly delicious. To me, it didn't really taste much different than Code Red Mountain Dew. But there was something off about it.
The Aftertaste was Absolutely Awful
The only way I can accurately describe it is that it's kind of a nutty or yeasty flavor; I assume that PepsiCo is trying to emulate the taste of cake, but I just don't think it works at all. I probably won't buy this myself, but if you like fruit cake, maybe this will be something you'll enjoy.
If you ever try this, please let us know how it tastes to you. I'll probably never drink it again, but it was definitely better than those nasty peppermint Pringles. What's your least favorite holiday flavor? Let us know on the mobile app or on Facebook.
