Cats vs. Griz, Bozeman vs. Missoula, who is more recognizable not just in the state but across America.

What Montana College Do You Root For

When I moved to Montana in 2000, I figured I better pick a college to root for, and I decided on the University of Montana.

Little did I know I picked a winner, as they dominated in football for most of the early 2000's, while MSU was more of an afterthought.

However, that might not mean that U of M is well known outside of Montana or that athletics are what makes a college popular.

Here Is Montana's Most Recognizable College

The website American Caldwell recently released their "Global University Visibility Rankings," in which they list the colleges with the most visibility.

To determine the rankings, they used news mentions, the number of times a school was searched online, how many social media followers a college has, along with the number of people who visit their website each month, just to name a few factors.

While neither Montana college was at the top of the rankings, an honor that Harvard owns, the difference between the two was stark.

Coming in ranked at #267, and the most recognizable college in Montana is Montana State University, while the University of Montana came in at #351.
