The Recall Details

David's Cookies is initiating a voluntary recall of 960 units of the "Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake," specifically lot # BS23212, which was sold in Walmart stores nationwide.

The Reason For The Cake Recall

This recall stems from an unfortunate labeling error where the 960 units of the "Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake" were mistakenly labeled as the "Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake."

This mislabeling failed to indicate peanuts as a prominent ingredient and omitted the necessary peanut allergen warning on the packaging.

The product is in a 7-ounce, transparent plastic package marked with lot # BS23212 on the top. (See photo below)

Fortunately, no reported illnesses or injuries have been associated with this labeling discrepancy thus far.

However, if any consumers have concerns regarding illness or injury related to this product, it is advisable to consult a physician promptly.

Upon investigation, it has been determined that the issue occurred during the labeling and packaging phase of production.

In collaboration with Walmart, all Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake supplies and Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake have been halted at distribution centers and store registers.

This precautionary measure ensures that consumers cannot purchase either of these products until a comprehensive investigation is carried out and David's Cookies and Walmart implement any necessary resolutions.
