Losing a Smartphone in Forsyth, Montana

It's one thing to leave the phone on the charger; it's another to lose it altogether.

After a day of shipping cattle and after an evening visiting with the brothers, I woke early the next morning and wondered where my smartphone device was.  Not in my briefcase, not in the jacket I wore, nor in my car.  Family called the phone number and not a sound was heard.

I had written before about coming to work without the phone and if I would go through any withdrawals.  Then I had confirmed I could go without for an extended period of time without a problem.  But then I knew where it sat.  This time I wasn't sure where it was.

There's that advice to "retrace your steps".  Remember where you last seen or held something.  Brother Bob suggested it may be buried in the corral mud, but I knew I had held it afterwards on an errand back in town.  The only place it may have been is Six Gun Pizza in Forsyth.

Six Gun is a more recent addition to the town's economy, located at 2100 Cedar Street on the east end past the schools and the old hospital.  When the payment ends, keep going on the dirt road that winds around to a former fire station.  You're there.  The pizzas are as legendary as the Western personalities they are named after.  Want something else?  Really recommend the calzones and the Jamaican Jerk Burrito.  You can go multiple times and enjoy a unique meal each visit.

Anyway, back to the missing phone.  After a morning road trip around the ranch land, we returned to Six Gun where we bought a "Johnny Ringo" the evening before.  Our hostess was there.  She took one look at me and said, "I know why you're here," and she walked to the cash register where my phone sat nearby.  I had unthinkingly brought it in, then unthinkingly left it on the table when I paid for pizza and left.

This second time in Six Gun, I left something else behind: a nice tip in their little tin bucket.  She saved me hundreds of dollars on a new smartphone.

This is one of the blessings of living in Montana, and in small towns.  Be good to everyone in town, and they will return the favor in big ways.
