A new study says chewing on a Pencil Might Help You Focus? Say what?!

A recent study has found that chewing on a pencil yes that good ole #2 gives your brain a boost, improves memory, and might help you focus! Do you still use old-school pencils?  If so, consider sticking that writing device in your mouth.

Is it just me or when we were kids and in school learning away teachers would yell you to take the pencil out of your mouth? I have vivid memories of that happening. We don't put school supplies in our mouths. We just don't do that. Gummy erasers included. Here in Montana people tend to chew on various things. Weeds, hay, and other Montana looking plants. That is just normal right?

A new study in South Korea found chewing on pencils can improve your memory and help you focus. I know that a lot of people do it while they are working and concentrating at the task at hand.

It is report that people actually did better on a cognitive test when they were told to chew on a wooden tongue depressor while they took the tests. Here is the best part. They're not even sure why it helps!  But they think it is that it improves blood flow to your brain, and releases an antioxidant called GSH!

Just to double check their work they also tried it with gum because that is a normal thing to chew, and that helped too.  Just not nearly as much.  But they say more research is needed.

Your dentist most defiantly won't the idea, because you could chip a tooth in the heat of the chewing on some wood and lead. Keeping our focus in check can be a difficult task so the next time you really need to get your focus on, chewing on a #2 pencil, a popsicle stick, or a wooden tongue depressor may just help. Personally, this is not for me. I value my teeth and do my best not to eat things I am not supposed to. Like wood, lead, and that questionable toxic yellow paint but to each their own.

A Little Wyoming School House Preserved In Time

The little hamlet of Slater Wyoming has preserved on of their last two remaining buildings with all the love they feel for it.

There was once a tiny town on this spot.

Most everything is gone except the schoolhouse and the community building.

I stopped by one Saturday morning and the locals were more than happy to let us in to have a look.
