My Brush With Mickey Rooney

Back in 1986, when I was still going to broadcasting school in Hollywood, I became an extra in TV commercials and movies to pick up a little extra money... and of course I was looking to be discovered, which never happened. But I was cast as an extra in "Lightning, the White Stallion" starring Mickey Rooney! I briefly got to meet him on the set and he was extremely gracious and took a few moments with everyone there. A true professional. Unfortunately my scene was cut... a common occurrence with extras as probably about 30% of what is shot actually makes it past the cutting room floor.
