New Billings Businesses Battling for $40k, part 1
After I wrote about the Billings Business Plan Pitch Competition, I wanted to learn more about these entrepreneurs vying for the expense coverage to help start their ventures. So after the radio show I sat in on a few new business pitches.
Each prospective business pitch involved a 10-minute presentation with mission, goals and startup budget, followed by a 10-minute Q&A from the selection committee.
Here's what may be coming downtown in the near future.
Kitty Corner Cafe
Need to de-stress from work and life? Want a warm drink and furry company? Then the Kitty Corner Cafe is for you. Cat cafes are a trending method to foster mental health, and two ladies decided Billings needed one too. They have contacted the local animal shelter for the use of adoptable felines in the cafe. It's a win-win: people can pet cats without living with a litter box; the cats get a break from the shelter for a day and can cuddle up with warm humans.
Their website is linked above and they are on Facebook.
Moffee Mug
A mushroom coffee shop? I would have never thought up such a combination, yet some folks swear to the health benefits.
Contrast 406
This gentleman kicked an addiction and relieved his chronic pain with contrast therapy, which is a few minutes in a hot sauna and then a plunge into cold water. This regimen eases pain and stress, increases metabolism and other health benefits. So he wants to provide this therapy to others in the Billings community as another option for physical and mental health.
More proposals to follow.
The award presentation for the Plan Pitch Competition will be August 28th, 4:30 p.m. at Craft Local. Come see all the businesses looking to make their mark in Billings.
