It happens every single year. The winter struggle is very real, and this year is no different. Snow snow and more snow. The cold weather does have an impact on us more than we know. For a lot of us it impacts more than just our attitude. You either love it or you hate it there is really no in-between. BUT studies have shown that snow actually has a few health benefits.

Snow actually has several benefits for your health that are not very commonly known! Here are a few of the unknow benefits:

1. Snow makes you work out. Yes, it does. Just walking to your car or into the store feels like you just competed in an Olympic event. Not to mention getting dressed for the weather. That in itself is a workout. All the work of putting on and taking off the many layers.

2. Snow lets you sleep in. Snow naturally has a calming factor. Peacefully falling snow does help one relax.

3. A day spent reading is great for your brain! Curl up and grab a book!

4. Snow makes you take a vacation. We recently found this one out firsthand with schools closing up shop. Bonus day off!

5. Snow gives you time to cook. When what do I do next kicks in you can always cook and bake. There is something so magical about a warm homemade meal on a cold icky day.

6. Snow lets you spend time with the friends and family. More game nights and watching movies and less running around town. Snow is fun! Just repeat that to us until we believe it!

BONUS: Snow in the winter also means easier gardening come Springtime! Also, a study in 2017 from Stanford found that people perform some cognitive tasks, such as staying calm and making decisions, with more control when that temp drops.
