After temperatures hit the 50's on Saturday, a dramatic drop of up to 30 degrees will happen in 24 hours as a winter weather front brings icy roads to the area on Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect on Sunday (12/8) from 5am to 8pm MST. Billings could get 2 inches of snow accumulation by Sunday evening, with a light glaze of ice, according to N.W.S. forecasts. Weather Channel's forecast predicts 1 to 3 inches of snow for Billings.

Freezing rain is expected north of Yellowstone County beginning Sunday morning, and east of Billings by the afternoon. A rain / snow mix is predicted everywhere else, with a flash freeze is expected late in the afternoon.

N.W.S. warns of these additional impacts from this storm:

A wintry mix of precipitation will create poor visibility and travel difficulties. Any wet roads will flash freeze around sunset Sunday afternoon, creating very slick travel conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
