Uh oh, Is it Illegal to Throw This Item Away in Montana?

We use this item every single day. 

Batteries. From smoke detectors to computer mice, batteries are quite the necessity in today's day and age. If I spend more money on the “good batteries” then my devices don’t die as quickly. But when the “crappy” batteries run out so quickly, I’m left with a bunch of waste.  

I’ve always had an issue with the waste batteries provide, especially in beautiful Montana.  

I have a giant zip-lock bag of dead batteries at my house...tossing them in the garbage just didn’t seem right. You may be familiar with alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries such as AAA, AA, C, and D. These types of batteries can be thrown in the trash.

However, the EPA recommends taking your old alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries to a battery recycler. This is to avoid toxins leaking into landfills. 

The electronic/ battery recycle center in Billings is Yellowstone E-Waste Solutions. This facility will take old computers, old batteries, all things electric and recycle it for you. It's much better to just bring all the old stuff to these guys. I don't want toxins the landfills of Montana. And I'm sure you don't either.

Small choices make huge impacts.
