School is winding down and for families who may be thinking about adopting a puppy, summertime can be a good time to do so. The kids are home from school to help with all of the responsibilities of puppy ownership, and potty training a young dog is always so much easier when it's not snowing and -20 degrees outside. I mean... would you want to run outdoors to relieve yourself in the middle of January? Of course not.

Springtime is puppy time at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

This active puppy named Tortilla wriggled into our studios today and is a real ball of energy. He is estimated to be between 9 and 10 weeks old and is a Border Collie mix. The American Kennel Club describes the breed,

A remarkably bright workaholic, the Border Collie is an amazing dog; maybe a bit too amazing for owners without the time, energy, or means to keep it occupied. These energetic dogs will settle down for cuddle time when the workday is done.

Tortilla spent every minute exploring every inch of our studio during his visit, stopping briefly to pop some balloons and take a cursory peek into our trashcan. He's very friendly, playful, and seems quite smart. Par for the course of a collie mix.
