GOT: The Prophecy for Cersei We Forgot About

I keep seeing articles and comments on social media right now trying to predict what is going to happen in this next episode of Game of Thrones that will air at 7 pm MST on Sunday night. The problem with these predictions is that they are all trying to use the content from the three episodes we have seen so far in season 8. All they are doing is grasping at straws.

When season 8 finally arrived, during the extremely long wait from Sunday to Sunday for the new episodes, I have been watching the whole series over. I am doing this partly to pass the time and stay in the series throughout the week, and also because I think that if there is a prediction to be made, it will be off of what has happened in the past three seasons.

I just recently re-watched Episode 1 from Season 5, “The Wars To Come.” Something big happened in that episode. If you recall, the beginning of the episode shows Cersei as a child with a friend as they are walking through the woods. They come up to a small hut that is home to a witch that just happens to be living on the land that Cersei’s father owns. She threatens the witch that she will “gouge her boring eyes out of her head” if she doesn’t tell her her future. The witch responds telling her, “Three questions you get. You won’t like the answers.”

Cersei asks the following questions and receives the following answers:

Question 1:

Cersei: I have been promised to the prince. When will we marry?

Witch: You will never wed the prince. You will wed the king.

Question 2:

Cersei: But I will be Queen?

Witch: Oh yes. You’ll be queen. For a time. Then comes another, younger, more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear.

Question 3:

Cersei: Will the king and I have children?

Witch: No. The king will have 20 children and you will have three. Gold will be their crowns. Gold their shrouds.

How many of the predictions from the witch have already come true for Cersei? Some speculated that the new “younger, more beautiful” queen that would take all Cersei held dear would be Margaery since she married Tommen a few episodes later and Cersei felt so threatened. But Margaery didn’t “cast” her down. My prediction is that this is the prophecy that is speaking about Dany. She is young, beautiful and most definitely wants to cast down Cersei and take all she holds dear, which is power.

The only part of the witch’s prediction that was off was that Cersei claimed she did have a child with Robert and that he died shortly after birth. However, this did not happen in the books. Cersei only had children with her…(gulp) brother (I hate even writing it).

Besides that one plot-hole, I still believe that the prophecy is talking about Dany and she is about to take Cersei down. I personally can’t wait to watch it unfold!
