If there is one place in the United States that would be unfitting for a winery, it would be Montana. Well, we were wrong.

Agriculture is a tricky business in Montana. With harsh weather and rough terrain, it can be stressful to grow crops in Montana. One of the most in-demand crops out of Montana is Flathead Lake Cherries. These cherries are unique in how they grow and climate, but depending on the winters, the yield could be minimal. Trust me, my family owned a cherry and apple orchard in Polson, and sometimes it was brutal.

That's why the most dominant crop out of Montana is wheat. The crops can handle harsh conditions and can be used in a vast array of food products.

One crop that could never grow in Montana is grapes. Vineyards are tricky and need certain climates to succeed and yield fruit. States like California, Oregon, and Washington are places where you can find wineries and vineyards en masse. These places have locations that can produce quality grapes yearly.

Even though Montana might not grow grapes, that doesn't mean we don't have any wineries. You might be surprised to find out Montana has ten wineries.

Elle Decor came out with a list of the Best Winery in Every State, and the one in Montana doesn't mess around.

The best winery in Montana is Yellowstone Cellars & Winery in Billings. Yellowstone Cellars source their grapes from the Yakima area of Washington and then transport the fruit back to Billings to ferment and create their line of wines. This is an impressive and reliable way to produce a line of wines.

That's the incredible dedication to their product. Not many wineries in Montana go through this process.
