You Can Join the YWCA Billings’ Endowment Board
We hear the stories and statistics on abuse of women and girls, through sexual assault, domestic violence and trafficking. Does this news raise your blood pressure like it does mine? Feel there should be organizations to address this, and you should be more involved? Billings YWCA has an opportunity.
The Endowment Foundation for the YWCA is accepting applicants from the community. The Foundation manages the financing and investments to ensure continued lifesaving services.
"At YWCA Billings, we are committed to saving and changing lives. We provide safe shelter and affordable housing, along with transitional services that offer a hand up, not a handout. Our goal is to help survivors break free from the cycles of violence and poverty, empowering them to build brighter, sustainable futures," Community Liaison Melissa Chameraud explained in a press release.
YWCA maintains a team of seven victim specialists who arrange emergency shelter and accompany on hospital examinations for assault evidence collection. They answer the phone and text on the 24/7 emergency line. Legal advocacy is also accessible for civil needs.
This team and administrators need funding to keep the door open. That's where the Foundation comes in. They welcome anyone with the following two qualities to join the mission.
The Passion
This goes right back to the opening paragraph. Did you answer "Yes" to my two questions, you have the passion, the care to be a part.
A Mind for Finance and Fundraising
Spoke with Melissa about the skill sets needed. They would appreciate professionals with a background in finance and investments to monitor the Foundation portfolio for security and income. Experience in fundraising will be a plus because a lot of work goes into keeping that door open. Your network of other area professionals who may share your passion will further uphold these good works for the survivors' future.
Interested? Please contact the Billings YWCA at 406-252-6303, extension 120 to learn more.
There is a population of women and children who will appreciate your striving for them.
