Pumpkin Patches are Open for 2019

You hate to get your pumpkins too early. They just rot. So, why not make an early trip AND a late trip to the pumpkin patch!? Maybe go this weekend for your first batch of pumpkins and make another trip a week or two before Halloween. Boom. Problem solved.

Billings area pumpkin patches are now open. There seems to be fewer and fewer around ever since Sartorie Farms and J & K Farms (my favorite!) closed in recent years. Here are the three remaining pumpkin patches that I'm aware of. All three are west of town, so if you know of any pumpkin patches east of Billings (Shepherd? Huntley? I'm looking at you!), please let me know and I'll add them to this list.

• The Maize at Grandpa's Farm 56th and Grand: Open most days now through the end of Oct. $10 admission (additional charge on Zombie nights). This place is filled with fun activities, the corn maze, a petting zoo, food vending and more. Always a good time.
• T & C Farms  1927 Holstein Lane, Laurel. This fairly new pumpkin patch out near Sportsman's fishing access between Laurel and Park City offers a lot of "non-scary" fun for kids, including a Hay Ride, You-Pick Pumpkin Patch, Barrel Train, Pumpkin Launch, Mini Frisby Golf, locally grown pumpkins and produce, as well as a Country Store with local preserves and other homemade goodies. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to dusk through October.
• Johnson Farms, Exact address unknown: These guys are old-school and I couldn't locate a website or phone number. Watch for signs on Highway 212 between Laurel and Joliet. This pumpkin patch is pretty low-key with minimal attractions or activities. I'm not sure if they are offering hayrides again this year, mainly just pumpkins and a limited selection of other local produce.
