Breaking Ground

The City of Billings’ golden shovels will be breaking ground on the Skyline Trail and the Inner Belt Loop Roadway on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 (weather permitting of course.)

This occasion gained momentum and is a direct result of hardworking efforts from the residents and private community stakeholders. With this collaboration, the city secured the highly competitive grant from the BUILD grant for $11.6 millionIn addition to city funds, and money directly donated from the public, we will get to hike the Skyline Trail once completed.  A press release from the City of Billings reads,

“The Skyline Trail will further extend recreation and active transportation opportunities for the community by connecting existing trails on the iconic Rimrocks. To enhance the trail's appeal, several thoughtful features will be incorporated, including seating areas with stunning views of the city and the Bighorn, Pryor and Beartooth Mountains, interpretive signs detailing the history of the region, paved parking, a MET bus shelter, bike racks, and more.”

The Inner Belt Loop

This loop will be a key connector from Billings Heights to the west end of town, offering huge growth opportunities for businesses and residential growth. The loop will be easily accessible, safe, and of course a great way to get out into nature.
