This Montanan’s Response to ABC’s View on Trump Shooter & Guns
A radio producer and content writer on their day off can find something to fill the time.
In the immediate wake of the Trump assassination attempt, I spent a little of the Monday morning tuned in to Montana Talks to hear what host Aaron Flint and a couple callers were saying. Then later I caught the opening political commentary from the ABC show The View. While the former's talk focused on the partisan politics, the latter soon went to guns.
A couple ladies from The View made comments that I can't let go. And being a producer, I learned to snag clips for use. Here is Joy Behar commenting on the number of rounds the shooter recently purchased for his AR style rifle
Just 50 rounds??
I agree with Mrs. Behar that the number should have been a red flag...because it's too low.
I'll wager that every firearm a Montanan has in their home also has hundreds of rounds ready for use, whether commercially produced or reloaded. A Quora question on ammo purchases reveals that lawful, recreational gun owners buy and shoot 200-500 rounds a month.
The next clip is from Sunny Hostin about the good reason to have an available gun:
Huh? Wait a minute. Didn't the recent assassination demonstrate the point? Even Joy Behar saw this. A good guy with a gun did stop a bad guy with a gun. Think about this: what would happen if there were no good guys with guns? The shooter bought 50 rounds. Assuming he took some practice shots, let's say 20, that leaves 30 available. He shot at Trump maybe half a dozen times at the most. That leaves at least 24 rounds. I'm totally speculating. How much more harm could he have inflicted unimpeded?
Ok, Sunny, here's an honest question: What would gun control look like?
Yes dear Reader, you can infer gun confiscations. Question is, who's going to do the confiscating? Sunny? Joy? Any lady on The View? Beto O'Rourke, a Presidential candidate who openly admitted he wants to take away AR-15 and similar firearms? These folks and others who want gun control won't do the actual confiscating; they will insist law enforcement do that. That means the wives and husbands, daughters and sons who wear the badge will be placed in potentially dangerous situations trying to remove firearms. Simple question: will the bad guy peacefully surrender their weapons?
So if Sunny and others have their way, who will have the guns in this country?
Scary to think about, isn't it?
