Today is National Beer Day . . . and if you're a beer drinker, you can celebrate by picking up an expensive four-pack of Double IPAs, or a cheaper case of something lighter and less interesting if you ballin' on a budget.

According to a new report, CASES of beer are the cheapest in Illinois, South Carolina, and New York.  And they're the most expensive in Alaska and Wyoming. Yep, our neighbor to the south has some of the most expensive beer.

The website Visual Capitalist recently crunched the numbers on the average prices of 24-packs of beer across the country and here is what they found.

The state with the cheapest case of beer is Illinois, where the average price is $16.43.  That's surprising since you'd think the states with the bigger cities would be more expensive, but that wasn't the case. No pun intended.

Who else is on the cheap end of the beer list?

South Carolina was the second-cheapest, followed by New York state, Rhode Island, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Connecticut, and lastly Virginia.

Who is most expensive?

Alaska was the priciest, with an average of $33.62 per case of beer.  Wyoming was the second most expensive, followed by Hawaii, Montana, Tennessee, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Oregon, and then Washington wrapping up the list.
